Vekan, also known as Vekak, is a rare and exquisite cultivar of the Glazed Purple Stripe group.
It was collected by Dr Boris Andrst from the small town of Poběžovice in the Czech Republic, near the border with Bavaria.
The flavour of this garlic is uniquely full and rich, and the bulb skins have a magical metallic sheen - fairytale garlic!
The plant displays good vigour, with natural disease resistance and is tolerant of a range of climates though it can sometimes have a tendency to side-sprouting.
Stores for 6-8 months.
